The National Committee on Dance of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) is organizing an international dance workshop and festival entitled Dance Xchange: 1st International Dance Workshops and Festival with the theme Cultural Exchange and Connectivity through Dance on April 26 – May 1, 2009 in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, Philippines. The festival will be participated in by about 8 countries.
The Dance Xchange aims to: 1) provide venue for interaction and facilitate learning between dancers, directors, dance teachers, choreographers from the other countries and the dance groups, choreographers, dancers and dance directors, teachers, tourism and cultural officers and students from the Philippines, 2)provide new ideas and inspiration that will stimulate the creativity of the dance educators, directors and choreographers, 3) showcase the unique dances of each country to facilitate cultural understanding, and 4) strengthen network among dance organizations and diplomatic relations among the participating countries. The Dance Xchange will have activities such as artists forum, dance workshops to be conducted by participating countries, festival of dance performances, major concerts, and outreach performances. The Dance Xchange will have a performance at Concert at the Park, Manila on April 26, 2009 prior to the event proper in Dumaguete City.
We are then inviting you to participate in the Dance Xchange which will open in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental on April 28, 2009. The participation fee of P 1,000 will cover the kit, ID, certificate, tickets for the shows, and attendance in the dance forum and workshops.

Guest performing groups are expected to:
I. Provide their own airfare from their country to the Philippines and back.
II. Perform country presentations (folk dances, dances representing the country’s culture).
III. Conduct workshops on their folkdances.
IV. Attend artists forum and other venues of interaction.
